The worst of the 80s relics

by kunk on Jul.09, 2009, under Fashion, Musings

IMO, airbrushed jackets are one of the most horrific and glorious relics of the 80s. Look at these goddamned things. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about a KUNK painted jean jacket.

Recipes

There is nothing more boring than a chicken breast. It is the James Joyce of the food world. This is a recipe that makes it more tolerable.

10-12oz. Chicken breast

1.5 cups of whole peeled tomatoes

2 cloves garlic

1/2 cup chopped red onion

1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes

1/4 cup roasted red pepper

2 tbspn sugar

2 tbspn salt

1 tbspn black pepper

1 box of ziti

1 cup sour cream

Over medium heat, sautee onion and garlic in olive oil. Once soft, add everything but the sour cream and the ziti and chicken (which you cook separately which should be obvious depending on your level of stupidity). Cube the chicken and add it to the sauce. Remove from heat and add the sour cream. Stir in, serve over ziti and enjoy.

A big f%$#@g help…not so much.

by kunk on Jul.08, 2009, under Musings

So, we bought our house at the height of the market. Our fault, admittedly. I am trying to get a loan modification. I have called 7-10 times. I have faxed/emailed/provided my P & L 3 times. It’s been lost 3 times. Last time they actually received it and confirmed it 5 days later, the statute had run out on the request so I had to re-submit. Not our fault. The bottom line is be rich or rent. I hope this helps.

Toys I wish I still had

Did not know I would have 3 boys or that the shit back then was so much better than the shit right now. Should have kept.

Stuff I want

Marvel Legends Blackbolt

Walmart exclusives suck and are impossible to find. People in places I would never even visit speak of the magical toy sections at Walmart but the ones by me never have anything besides latina Barbie and Batman in a yellow costume he never wore. I have the worst taste in superheroes. Namor and Blackbolt are my two favorites.

Fatherhood

by kunk on Jul.07, 2009, under Musings

I never knew my father. At all. When I had my first child, I was scared shitless, because A) I never knew my father, B) the vast majority of male “role models” (Uncle Ken notwithstanding) called me fat, a homo, a pussy or some combination of those things, and C) we had no money.

Has honestly turned out to be the greatest joy of my life. The kids are each unique, exasperating, wonderful, frustrating, demanding and adorable.

This post really has no point I guess. Fuck you dad.

Marinades

by kunk on Jul.07, 2009, under Recipes

Much as I’d like a porterhouse every night, it is not going to happen. We have 3 boys and all organic, all prime seems a bit ridiculous in this economy. Here are some marinades that will help the chuck and sirloin taste better after a few hours in the fridge provided yours hasn’t been repossessed.

These assume you are working with 8-12 oz. of sirloin, chuck, shoulder, room mate’s shoulder, etc. They generally work for chicken, too, if you are a real pussy and avoid red meat.

4 oz. olive oil, 2 tspn. oregano, 2 tbspn lemon juice, salt & pepper to taste

here’s another:

2 oz peanut oil, 1 oz sesame oil, 2 tbspn sriracha, 2 tbspn soy sauce, 1 tspn dried basil, 2 tbspn rice wine vinegar
